Spin The News

The Speed Metal enthusiasts at Spin Cycle Works and Rotor Bike Components have joined forces with serial bike racer Jamie Scott to create the world's first and only Spin Rotor Race Team! Our small squad of experienced roadmen will be putting our bikes, wheels & parts to the test at elite level events across the UK in 2012. The team's busy schedule includes premier calendar and UCI races, as well as the elite circuit series. Next stage: world domination. But we might leave that until the 2013 season.

The Spin Rotor Racing team simply wouldn't exist today without the tireless efforts of Jamie Scott. How he finds the time to actually go racing, as well as maintaining a full time "proper" job will probably remain one of the mysteries of the universe.

Instrumental in driving the team from idea to reality, and never less than indomitable in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges, Jamie has brought together this fine band of brothers and leads them on the road.

As well as winning on the Calshott Velodrome this winter aboard his Solo Ultimo track bike, Jamie got within a whisker of the podium in the 2011 national TT championships, something he hopes to improve on this year piloting his Lightning Mk X TT bike.

Elite road racer Paul Londors is our man for the bunch sprints and long solo breaks. With an enviable palmares already in the bag, SPIN ROTOR Racing are looking for big things from Paul this season. No pressure there then.

Paul Robertson, an elite mountain biker, has already delivered the team's first win in only his first season back on the road. As well as his speed, watch out for his famous trick cycling skills: track stand stoppies being just one of many in his repertoire.

Gentle Giant David Palmer started the season training with his buddy Fabian Cancellara on one of those sunny cycling paradise islands in the Med. Sadly Fab cracked under the pressure, but Dave powers on. Well known for breaking every bike, wheel & part he's ever ridden, Spin & Rotor welcomes Dave to the world of Speed Metal. Proper bikes. Not plastic bikes. Lifetime warranty included!

Equipment

The team ride bikes hand-crafted from Speed Metal. Speed Metal by Spin: titanium frames & titanium components. Speed Metal by Rotor: the world's best cranks with innovative Q-Rings. And they roll on Spin Custom light carbon race wheels, hand built from start to finish. We say "nothing too special then", as the team ride the exact same bikes, parts & wheels that we build for our customers every day. But those who see and ride our bikes disagree.
Pretty special: Speed Metal.

At Spin Industries Co., we work with titanium day in, day out. It's a truly difficult material to craft well, but we choose to work it. And in doing so we have come to learn its deepest secrets and know it profoundly. As a result, we've many reasons to believe in titanium as the optimal material for bikes.

But the reason we find most compelling, from the point of view of our customers, is this. If you are being paid to ride, ride whatever. But if you are paying to ride, ride titanium.

Why's that? Because only a hand-crafted titanium bike looks as good in 10 or 20 years as it does the day you get it. Whilst your brand new plastic/carbon bike is fashionable today, its manufacturer is already preparing to launch the updated model that is deliberately designed to make your bike outdated. Instantly!

And whilst every carbon, aluminium and steel bike has a limited lifespan, and hence a short term, limited warranty, we sell every single one of our titanium bikes with a lifetime frame warranty.

The SPIN ROTOR race bikes in detail
Despite a wide range of rider heights, team members are all racing on stock sizes and geometries, whilst choosing between the Mk III Spitfire and the Mk X Lightning for their preferred ride & handling characteristics.

Titanium frames plus custom Ti & carbon componentry
For us there is simply no better material than aerospace grade titanium alloy from which to craft light, responsive, lifetime durable, beautiful bike frames. But we don't stop there. Whilst other, more famous makes begin & end their love of titanium with the frame, we optimise our bikes with as much specifically-tuned Ti componentry as we know how. Ti seatposts, headsets and stems add so significantly to ride quality we reckon you haven't experienced a proper Ti bike until you try this magic sweet-spot combination. Our racers have all come to us from multiple seasons on state of the art carbon, and can't believe how good we've managed to make metal. In short, they love it! Ask them. Find out more »

Custom hand-built race wheels
Custom wheels are cycling's equivalent of the bespoke hand-made leather shoe. Built perfectly, just for you and no one else. With lots of colour, weight & rim profiles to choose from, and at prices that make ordinary, mass produced, machine built wheels look rather expensive, the obvious question is why wouldn't you think about letting us build your next pair? Pedal power: efficiency through ovalisation
We're big fans of metal as you might have already spotted. So carbon cranks, just like carbon frames, simply don't do it for us for a number of reasons, from aesthetics to performance / weight ratio. Thankfully our friends at Rotor Bike Components are on board, and together with their beatifully machined cranks the team bikes benefit from oval Q-Rings. You can read all about the performance benefits all over the net, but one thing we don't hear mentioned quite so often is just how kind they are on your knees. Combined with the Q-Rings unique ability to dial in perfectly with your ride style, power spin circle and frame geometry, they're the perfect compliment to our full Speed Metal line up. Prove. Improve.

At Spin we make hand crafted titanium racing bikes, custom wheels and fast parts. And our friends at Rotor make the world's best cranks. What better way to put all that combined Speed Metal to the test?

As makers of titanium race bikes, fast components and even faster wheels, engineered performance is what it's all about.

Having our own race team means our bikes, wheels & parts get tested to the extreme, out on the road. Where it really counts. Every day. Rain or shine. All under just about the hardest conditions possible and piloted by some of the most experienced cyclists around.

We couldn't think of a better way to prove our bikes. And no better research lab to help us improve our bikes.

And the best bit of all: our customers reap all the rewards.

We Couldn't Have Done It Without
