We took the Mk X out for a spin and can tell you it's a sprightly beast indeed. What you want in a bike like this is confidence in tight cornering, and it didn't disappoint, even in the wet. A titanium bike is a good bet for the hurly burly world of crit racing, and the lifetime warranty of all Spin's frames gives the peace of mind a similarly priced carbon frame could never offer.

...the Spitfire's oversized down & seat tubes and fork don't disappoint. So how does the MK III ride? Procycling magazine's operations editor and titanium newbie Jamie Wilkins took it for a spin and gave us his initial thoughts: "From the first pedal stroke the Supermarine feels unique ...Fans of titanium wax lyrical about its ride character and within a few miles you can start to appreciate what they’re talking about. The MkIII is really comfortable but not in the same way as a carbon fibre bike. It’s smooth and effective against all size bumps, from poor tarmac to big potholes. But where a top carbon fibre frame isolates you from the road with a dampened feel the Spitfire MkIII talks to you a lot more..."

You find yourself pushing the Spitfire harder, staying off the brakes longer and leaning further... our first choice for a dog fight

We don't think we've ever seen welds neater than these on any titanium bike at any price. They really are pretty special.

We get spoilt around here with good-looking bikes. We’ve always got a few gorgeous machines in the road.cc office. But even in our world, the Spitfire is a stunner. It manages to look classic but with enough attention to detail and individuality to mark it out from the crowd.

This is just a quick note to say I Love My Bike. I was having a crap day at the office today, but the chance to go out and splash through some puddles on the Spit at lunchtime cheered me up no end.
N Ronketti, Spitfire Pilot, England

Rode it like a new toy...very responsive, suprisingly stiffer rear and down tube compared to my Litespeed Vortex 6/4. And the neatest welds I have ever seen on a Ti frame. Spin has set a new standard. The bike is just perfect.
R Bahari, Spitfire Pilot, Malaysia

Wow. Very, very impressive.
A Hartog, Spitfire Pilot, England

I really love my Spitfire!
M de Lange, Spitfire Pilot, Netherlands

Bike is SUPERB !!!!!... smooth and Spinalicious, handling is spot on
M Hill, Spitfire Pilot, England

The spitfire is my first experience of titanium as I was a true carbon fibre follower (Look 595 and Cervelo Soloist) so this bike had a lot to live up to. It has not disappointed! the ride is as stiff as carbon, responsive without flex but the true joy is that it is absorbing the roads that we have in good old blighty.
S Ashall, Spitfire Pilot, England

I had a long and pleasant ride today on the spit, and feel now confident enough to come to a verdict on the spitfire's qualities. The spit is a winner for me. It is a great road frame.
