The Mk I Spitfire. Think of it as the year-round race frame with the entry level price. But not the entry level features.

The frame that made our name for craftsmanship & unbelievable value in titanium

The Spitfire Mk I is where it all started for Spin. After a lifetime of buying and riding other peoples' bikes and being, well, never truly satisfied, this was the frame that defined how we do things. Our early customers couldn't believe their luck when they tried a Mk I out and realised that a beautifully crafted, sublime-riding titanium bike was finally within their grasp.

Size-specific Grand Tour race geometry, the exact same as found on the Mk III Supermarine, and a custom cold worked, aero profiled tubeset mean this Spitfire lands ready to race, as equally at home on a mid-week crit, club 10, a daily commute or long hours in the saddle at the weekend.

At Spin we cut no corners

Just because the Mk I is our cheapest titanium frame, it doesn't mean that we cut corners in the materials we chose or the craft we employed. Nor in the attention to detail we're rapidly becoming known for. With a Mk I you get the same level of build and finish as on all our Ti frames.

You'll find the same expensively machined-in head badge in the same extensively machined, oversized and over engineered head tube for example. The same breathtakingly neat, perfect aerospace welds. And the same CNC machined 6Al4V Ti chain pip.

Small details that add up to make a big difference over a lifetime of ownership. Details like the tiny badge machined into the brake bridge, and thoughtfully integrated but stealthily hidden mudguard mounts for year-round, all-weather riding.

Usually, entry-level titanium frames are restricted to a budget tubeset made up of simple, small diameter plain gauge round tubing. This helps to keep costs as low as possible, but also compomises ride and performance. The Mk I Spitfire by contrast features a sophisticated, optimised tubeset made up of round and profiled, single and double butted tubes. You'll be flying on both a double-butted seat tube and an oversized, teardrop profiled aero down tube.

A Ti frame is a great place to start but at Spin, Ti doesn't stop there

Unlike other purveyors of quality titanium frames, we do things just that bit more properly at Spin. And that means you can buy yourself the Mk I Spitfire titanium race frame on its own, or combine it with our fully tuned custom titanium and carbonic super kit for the ride of your life.

The Spitfire Mk I at a glance

The Mk I Spitfire Ti frame is available for £990, or from £1090 as part of our great value frameset bundles

Why not Spin Your Ride with custom Titanium & Carbonic Super Kit? You won't find it on lesser machines, and it's probably not on your club mate's bike either.

We're big fans of Ti frames but most usually you'll spot them out on the road being ridden with a carbon fork & seat post. Carbon can work wonders. In the right places. But all too often we think it's used in the wrong ways and for the wrong parts. The real reasons aren't hard to find. It's much cheaper and quicker to make components out of carbon. Crafting seat posts & stems from titanium isn't.

How can anything beat a great Ti frame?
We've been lucky enough to ride Ti frames extensively over the last 20 years, always mated to the latest carbon & super-stiff alloy suporting kit. But after years of doing so, we discovered something remarkable. Because we found that you only achieve true cycling Nirvana when you match a great Ti frame to a Ti seat post. Not carbon. This combo, when tuned to perfection, produces a sublime rear-end ride. It's a real eye-opener if you've been convinced, like we were, by the marketing hype of carbon "absorbing" road shock.

The magic sweet-spot combination
Next step is to remove the harshness of alloy stems & bars and swap for a tuned custom cockpit. We designed the world's most beautiful stem in Ti, and match this with a thoughtfully engineered super stiff bar in carbon. The Ti stem counter balances the carbonic bar. You get the good without the bad. It's another magic combination, and you'll only find it with Spin.

The perfect front end
Add the wonder properties of our super tough yet super light carbon fork and you have the recipe for the perfect front-end. Precise, confidence inspiring handling that doesn't beat you up on the rough stuff and looks after you on all-day rides. And we didn't even mention our beautiful, mirror-polished, all-titanium headset. Also available in custom Purple Haze.

We call it the Spin Difference. And it makes all the difference
So, that's what awaits you when you become a Spitfire pilot. A great Ti frame. Plus top end fully tuned custom titanium and carbonical super kit. Buy it all in one go with our great value frameset bundle offers to save money. Or start with the frame and hone it over time with extra Spin Ti as your budget allows, as many of our customers do.

The magic ride combination is also available as our best value frameset bundle for £1469. What does that include? All this:

Spin The News: What Very Important People Are Saying About Our Exceedingly Titanium Bicycles

Our Customers Say This

This is just a quick note to say I Love My Bike. I was having a crap day at the office today, but the chance to go out and splash through some puddles on the Spit at lunchtime cheered me up no end.
N Ronketti, Spitfire Pilot, England

Rode it like a new toy...very responsive, suprisingly stiffer rear and down tube compared to my Litespeed Vortex 6/4. And the neatest welds I have ever seen on a Ti frame. Spin has set a new standard. The bike is just perfect.
R Bahari, Spitfire Pilot, Malaysia

Wow. Very, very impressive.
A Hartog, Spitfire Pilot, England

I really love my Spitfire!
M de Lange, Spitfire Pilot, Netherlands

Bike is SUPERB !!!!!... smooth and Spinalicious, handling is spot on
M Hill, Spitfire Pilot, England

D Ramsay, England

The spitfire is my first experience of titanium as I was a true carbon fibre follower (Look 595 and Cervelo Soloist) so this bike had a lot to live up to. It has not disappointed! the ride is as stiff as carbon, responsive without flex but the true joy is that it is absorbing the roads that we have in good old blighty.
S Ashall, Spitfire Pilot, England

I had a long and pleasant ride today on the spit, and feel now confident enough to come to a verdict on the spitfire's qualities. The spit is a winner for me. It is a great road frame.
T Teunissen, Spitfire Pilot, Holland
